Consultant, Emergency Medicine

- Provide, Direct and supervise the medical care of all patients requiring ED care in coordination with his Colleagues.

- Provide education, training and guidance to his/her Junior Staff.

- Provide Clinical Leadership.

- Perform daily rounds, update progress notes or countersign Residents’ Notes.

- Provide Consultations and follow-up as requested by other sections or other members.

- Perform diagnostic or therapeutic invasive procedures for which he/she is specifically privileged according to his/her training and experience.

- Encourage and conduct clinical and basic research relating to emergency medicine.

- Actively participate in the on-going performance improvement of clinical Services.

- Shall ascertain that Islamic Values and Medical Ethics are respected and strictly observed.

- Perform other functions and activities that are applicable to his/her Department.

EDUCATION:

• Graduate of an accredited medical school
• Saudi Board or an equivalent like, American, Canadian Board, Australian, CCST or CCT for Europe, or other degrees qualify for consultant grade after five years of experience and considering that the duration of training for these qualifications is not less than three years
• Should be certified or certifiable by Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as Consultant ED.
