Job Description

The Labor & Delivery Head Nurse is responsible for overseeing the clinical operations and nursing staff within the labor and delivery department. They provide leadership, strategic direction, and clinical expertise to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care to women during childbirth. The Head Nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, manages resources, and fosters a culture of excellence and innovation in obstetric care. Provide clinical leadership and guidance to nursing staff in the labor and delivery department, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices, standards of care, and regulatory requirements.

Monitor patient care delivery, assess clinical outcomes, and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance safety, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.

Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff, offering expertise in obstetric nursing, childbirth techniques, and maternal-fetal assessment.

The Nurse Manager is a key member of the unit’s management structure and clinical staff and shall provide sound clinical leadership to the staff team. The Nurse Manager ensures that the unit functions as an integral part of the Directorate’s services and to actively participate in the establishment and maintenance of effective communication with all relevant personnel both internally within the RCMC and externally with other agencies. Is required to participate in unit wide responsibilities as required.  Functions as a role model for new and other identified staff. The post holder is accountable for their unit / department and will: promote and monitor safe and effective practice, enhance the patient/client experience, provide effective leadership and management and contribute to the delivery of the organization’s objectives.

Skills

 1.  Ensure that all care provided is in accordance with the Directorate’s philosophy and is, therefore, patients centered based on a comprehensive and thorough multi-disciplinary assessment of an individual’s specific needs and which is implemented in ways which are based on research and/or current best practice.

 

 

 2.  Ensure that all care provided is regularly and systematically evaluated against expected outcomes, ensuring any necessary changes in implementation are actioned.

 3.  Ensure that all nursing care plans and other documents are properly and accurately completed.

 4.  Ensure that each patient has an identified and appropriate named nurse who is suitability qualified and experienced.

 5.  Ensure that mechanisms are in place within the team which ensures that the skills of individual staff are matched to the individual needs of patients.

 6.  Ensure that patients are made aware of, encourage and assisted to use all services available to them. Ensure that all practices and interactions on the unit are based on the preservation and respect of client’s dignity individual and cultural; identify which (wherever possible) and are in accordance with the maintenance of individual’s independence.

 7.  The Head Nurse is expected to have knowledge of all equipment used in the assigned area.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Preferred Master’s in Nursing

تأسست الهيئة الملكية للجبيل وينبع بموجب مرسوم ملكي أصدره جلالة الملك خالد بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود ـ يرحمه الله - في 16 رمضان عام 1395هـ الموافق 21 سبتمبر عام 1975م. وجاء في المرسوم الملكي: (تشكل هيئة ملكية لتنفيذ خطة التجهيزات الأساسية اللازمة لإعداد منطقتي الجبيل وينبع كمنطقتين صناعيتين ويكون لهذه الهيئة شخصية معنوية مستقلة). كما خصصت للهيئة الملكية ميزانية مستقلة لتنفيذ أعمالها. The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu was established as per a Royal Decree issued by HM King Khalid - May Allah have mercy upon him - in 21 September 1975 (16 Ramadan 1395H). The Royal Decree read “A Royal Commission shall be formed to execute the necessary infrastructure plan for the preparation of Jubail and Yanbu Cities as industrial areas. The Commission shall have an independent legal personality”. An independent budget was dedicated for the Royal Commission.
