The Nurse Duty Supervisor (DNS) is a key member of the unit’s management structure and clinical staff and shall provide sound clinical leadership to the staff team. The DNS ensures that all nursing units and departments function as an integral part of the Directorate’s services and to actively participate in the establishment and maintenance of effective communication with all relevant personnel both internally within the RCMC and externally with other agencies. Is required to participate in hospital wide responsibilities as required. Functions as a role model for new and other identified staff. The post holder is accountable for the on-going smooth management of the hospital and will: promote and monitor safe and effective practice, enhance the patient/client experience, provide effective leadership and management and contribute to the delivery of the organization’s objectives. This service is provided 24 hours, 7 days per week
The role of a Nursing Supervisor is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care within a healthcare facility. This position requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage personnel and resources to meet the needs of patients and achieve organizational goals
Follow RCMC policy and procedure
Attends annual review and performs departmental in-services.
Prepare reports as required
Follow dress code
Adhere to the chain of command
Perform other duties related to the work as assigned by the Nursing Administration as needed
Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians and staff
Maintains regulatory requirements, including all national and JCI regulations
Wears identification while on duty
Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety and infection control
Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital.
Excellent attendance record.
Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community
Maintains organizational confidentiality at all times
Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices
Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required
Completes annual education requirement
It is the duty of every employee to report any negative or abnormal or unexpected event/incident as soon as possible after its occurrence by filling the appropriate Electronic Occurrence Variance Report (eOVR)
Leadership
Takes the responsibility for the overall management of the patient care in the absence of the Director of Nursing and Health Services Program Director / Designee from Saturday to Wednesday from 16:00 until 07:00 the following day: Thursday from 16:00 until Saturday 07:00, and all designated public holiday period when administration office is closed
Liaise with Duty Manager on Administrative issues
Problems related to non-clinical staff, visitors, watchers and general public. Unsolved issues will be referred to Administrator –on-call by the duty manager. This may include liaising and coordinating with social services and other relevant hospital staff
Receiving and sending faxes from / to external hospital (Clinical aspect is the DSN responsibilities)
Liaise with Administrator –on-call for all medical issues that are outside their scope of capability and responsibility
Assume the responsibility for the safety of patients and staffs and liaise with security regarding visitor’s safety
Ensure the hospital management of hospital codes / alert situations are managed according to hospital policies. Attends all code situations and provides report to DON
Ensure safe and effective practice, Professional, ethical and legal
I. Adhere to RCMC guidelines for practice requirements and standards, for example, safe handling, administration, storage and custody of medicinal products
Adhere to RCMC guidelines, policies and procedures
Contribute to the development of the RCMC’s nursing policies and strategies, where appropriate
Maintain own professional and personal development in accordance with the Saudi Health Commission, standards and professional guidelines
Establish and maintain relationships based on mutual respect communicating on a regular basis with the patient/client, relatives and careers in the provision of care and services
VI. Ensure appropriate systems are developed and operational to facilitate dissemination of information within the nursing unit’s /department teams
Adhere to the Data Protection Policy
Maintain effective records management ensuring all documentation written or electronic is managed as per RCMC’s guidelines
Adhere to the Code of Conduct, as per Human Resource policies and procedures
Ensure risk management arrangements are in place within the unit/department
Acts as patient advocate
Makes regular rounds on patient areas (minimum three (3) times per shift
Ensure and assess patients who are (1) seriously ill (2) all new admissions (3) all post-operative (4) any patient who is giving cause for concern
Evidence-based practice
Promote a culture of research and evidence-based practice within the nursing department to enhance person-centred care
Ensure evidence-based care is provided to agreed standards within the unit/department
Act as a change agent, developing clinically effective practice through the effective utilization and integration of evidence
IV. Participate in developing, implementing and monitoring policies, procedures and protocols
Create an environment which supports a culture of life-long learning and reflective practice for all staff
Ensure systems and processes are in place to support effective mentoring of relevant staff
Environment
Maintain a safe and clean environment for staff, patients/clients and visitors by ensuring compliance with legislation, policies and protocols including health and safety, healthcare associated infection, risk management and critical incident reporting
Ensure staff awareness of environmental issues and take appropriate action as per RCMC policy
Participate in the analysis, assessment and management of actual and potential risks to health and well-being
Ensure safe and effective use of equipment as per RCMC policy
Ensure near misses, incidents, accidents and faulty devices are recorded, reported, investigated and learning disseminated as per RCMC policy
Multi-professional working
Establish systems and processes to ensure effective communication and continuity of patient/client care, liaising with multi-disciplinary/multi-agency teams and community services
Attend meetings and forums, representing the nursing department at various levels both within RCMC and external agencies
Ensures the development of the nursing supervisory team by encouraging staff to contribute their views and ideas as appropriate
Ensure that all clinical and other information is gathered, stored and passed on to relevant departments/personnel, and information is accessible only to authorized personnel and is stored in accordance with RCMC policy
Ensure that the hospital’s nursing atmosphere is conducive to the reception, treatment and care of the patient taking action when this is not the case
Encouraging clients and their carers to comment on the quality of services they receive
Participating in establishment and maintenance of good working relationships with all other units and departments on-site and elsewhere within RCMC
Enhance the patient/client experience- Person-centred care
Develop and maintain a culture of person-centred care within the nursing department
Develop strategies for communication between staff, patients/clients, relatives and their care giver, showing awareness of barriers to understanding
Facilitate communication between all members of the multi-disciplinary/multiagency team, and across care settings
Ensure that all care provided is regularly and systematically evaluated against expected outcomes, ensuring any necessary changes in implementation are actioned
Coordination of the patient/client journey
Ensure the safety and quality of the patient’s/client’s journey by effective planning and co-ordination of the episode of care, including the smooth transition to other settings
Work with nursing units to ensure effective admission/discharge planning with relevant multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams as required

تأسست الهيئة الملكية للجبيل وينبع بموجب مرسوم ملكي أصدره جلالة الملك خالد بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود ـ يرحمه الله - في 16 رمضان عام 1395هـ الموافق 21 سبتمبر عام 1975م. وجاء في المرسوم الملكي: (تشكل هيئة ملكية لتنفيذ خطة التجهيزات الأساسية اللازمة لإعداد منطقتي الجبيل وينبع كمنطقتين صناعيتين ويكون لهذه الهيئة شخصية معنوية مستقلة). كما خصصت للهيئة الملكية ميزانية مستقلة لتنفيذ أعمالها. The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu was established as per a Royal Decree issued by HM King Khalid - May Allah have mercy upon him - in 21 September 1975 (16 Ramadan 1395H). The Royal Decree read “A Royal Commission shall be formed to execute the necessary infrastructure plan for the preparation of Jubail and Yanbu Cities as industrial areas. The Commission shall have an independent legal personality”. An independent budget was dedicated for the Royal Commission.
