Responsible on shift-by-shift basis for professional/clinical supervision of new/
junior staff members and pre-registration student or learners.
Follows and assists in the implementation and interpretation of policies and
procedures. Review RCMC IPPs manual (computer system) annually
Monitor compliance with legislative requirements and organization polices and
procedure and take appropriate action to correct any area of non-compliance
Adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization, i.e., mission,
ethics and goals of the hospital, customer service, safety, compliance standards
and all others
Attends and actively participates in meetings of committees as assigned. Assists in
data collection for quality improvement
Attend 75% of all department meetings
Attends and assist the Head Nurse in annual review and performs departmental
professional development
Demonstrable ongoing and active continuous education. Maintain RCMC annual
competencies.
Integrates Trans-cultural principles into nursing care.
Excellent attendance record.
Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with
Physicians and Staff.
Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance
process as required.
Leadership:
I. Manages the medical and or surgical service in the absence of the Nurse
Manager and/or as required.
II. Provide leadership, support and guidance to staff in monitoring the planning
delivery and evaluation of individualized care.
III. Responsible for monitoring the workload/patient acuity within the unit on a daily
basis to ensure manpower is adequate to provide a safe standard of nursing
care.
IV. Ensure cost effective and appropriate use of manpower and material with
consideration and due regards to budgetary control.
V. Assist and support the Nurse Manager to provide, lead direction to assigned
staff, including establishing workloads, prioritizing work assignments, monitoring
employee performance, interpreting policies and procedures, and resolving staff
issues.
VI. Displays professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks in a timely
manner
VII. Assists in the monitoring, procurement and proper inventory of supplies. Assists
in maintaining equipment
VIII. Self-motivated and able to make decisions independently keeping physician,
department manager and appropriate others informed and supporting hospital
philosophy and decisions
IX. Assure timely flow of patient through department
X. Assist the Nurse Manager in the annual (or more frequent) appraisal of staff
XI. Assist the Head Nurse in any grievance, disciplinary, performance or sickness
issues as appropriate and in accordance with RCMC procedure
Communication:
I. Communicating with patients of diverse ethnic backgrounds
II. Exercise leadership to motivate members of staff, achieve high morale and
promote effective communication within the unit
III. Operate personal computers, including database, word processing, presentation,
and other related medical software;
IV. Deals with patients, families and careers in order to aid resolution of complaints
V. Communication and interpersonal techniques as applied to interaction with
coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc., sufficient to exchange or convey
information and to receive work direction.
Education:
I. Provides orientation to new nursing and support staff.
II. Support the Nurse Manager provide education to patients, families, regarding
discharge instructions to other units
III. Participates in and supports training and development of Saudi nursing
programmers.
IV. Encourage new ideas and facilitate implementation following discussion with
clinical leader
Quality Improvement and Professional Development
I. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, such as audits, evidence-based
practice projects, and performance improvement activities, to enhance patient
care outcomes.
II. Pursue ongoing professional development opportunities, including continuing
education, certification programs, and participation in professional organizations.
III. Stay abreast of current trends, research findings, and advancements in medical/surgical nursing practice to maintain clinical competence and improve patient
care delivery.
The medical / surgical charge nurse is expected to have knowledge of all clinical
aspect related to this area but may not be directly involved in all areas
To delegate staff with due regard to individual’s capabilities utilizing available skill
mix appropriately.
Provide the shared objectives of the multidisciplinary team by working closely to
ensure that best practice is achieved
Ensure patient receives the best possible care during their stay in the Unit.
Maintain accurate clinical observations of patients condition
Interprets the significance to date of the patient’s condition and progress. Acts and
reports accordingly
Identifies and discusses nursing problems or needs with the patients, relatives, and
staff. Participates in discharge planning to ensure a safe and effective discharge
from the Unit.
Prepares and administers and records medications. Reports adverse reactions to
medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration
of medications by a licensed registered nurse
Maintains proper supplies and appropriate medical equipment to care for patients
Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely
manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms
Arrange for patient transfer to other departments and, complete required
documentation.
Practicing infection control methods/ protocols
Acquiring the knowledge and expertise to take appropriate action in emergency
situations
Provides care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to
the adult or elderly patient’s and family’s diversity
Provide wound care, perform sterile procedures, and assist with diagnostic tests
and procedures as needed
Assist with the orientation of new employees to the department.
Equipment and Machinery:
The Medical / Surgical Charge Nurse is expected to have knowledge of all
equipment used in the area, however may not have daily clinical involvement.
Education
• Bachelor degree of Science in Nursing
• Intermediate Program or equivalent management course (preferred)
Experience
• For Non-Saudi Minimum of 7 Yrs. Experience
• For Saudi Minimum of 5 yrs. Experience

حكومي ينبع, المملكة العربية السعودية http://www.rcymc.med.saتأسست الهيئة الملكية للجبيل وينبع بموجب مرسوم ملكي أصدره جلالة الملك خالد بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود ـ يرحمه الله - في 16 رمضان عام 1395هـ الموافق 21 سبتمبر عام 1975م. وجاء في المرسوم الملكي: (تشكل هيئة ملكية لتنفيذ خطة التجهيزات الأساسية اللازمة لإعداد منطقتي الجبيل وينبع كمنطقتين صناعيتين ويكون لهذه الهيئة شخصية معنوية مستقلة). كما خصصت للهيئة الملكية ميزانية مستقلة لتنفيذ أعمالها. The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu was established as per a Royal Decree issued by HM King Khalid - May Allah have mercy upon him - in 21 September 1975 (16 Ramadan 1395H). The Royal Decree read “A Royal Commission shall be formed to execute the necessary infrastructure plan for the preparation of Jubail and Yanbu Cities as industrial areas. The Commission shall have an independent legal personality”. An independent budget was dedicated for the Royal Commission.
