Job Description

Task Category 1: Organizational Responsibilities (applicable to all staff)
1. Follow RCMC policy and procedure
2. Attends annual review and performs departmental in-services.
3. Prepare reports
4. Follow dress code
5. Adhere to the chain of command
6. Perform other duties related to the work as assigned by the Manager /supervisor as needed.
7. Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with Physicians and Staff.
8. Maintains regulatory requirements, including all national and JCI regulations.

9. Wears identification while on duty
10. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety and infection control.
11. Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital
12. Excellent attendance record.
13. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
14. Maintains organizational confidentiality at all times.
15. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices
16. Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required.
17. Completes annual education requirement .
18. It is the duty of every employee to report any negative or abnormal or unexpected event/incident as soon as possible after its occurrence by filling the appropriate Electronic Occurrence Variance Report (OVR)

Job-Specific Technical Tasks (ONLY to be used with the physicians, dentists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, nurses, clinical support services technicians, engineers, TAD technicians, EMT staff)
2.2.1 Follows and assists in the implementation and interpretation of policies and procedures. Review RCMC IPPs manual (computer system) annually.
2.2.2 Adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization, i.e., mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, customer service, safety, compliance standards and all others
2.2.3 To provide the highest standard of nursing care for the pre-term / and or babies and their families at all times. One nurse per patient, nursing care of level 3 patient, providing continuous attendance, visual observation and appropriate intervention on a frequent daily basis, with minimal supervision using:
2.2.3.1 Advanced forms of respiratory support (i.e. CPAP, BiPAP, Mechanical Ventilation, Tracheostomies, Bronchial Suctioning)
2.2.3.2 Advanced forms of invasive monitoring (i.e. CVP, Arterial lines, PICCO), Visual monitoring and analysis (i.e. Cardiac dysrthmias, Glasgow Coma Scale, ECG, SaO2, ETCO2, 12 lead ECG, sedation level, pain assessment)

2.2.3.3 Advanced forms of renal support (i.e. haemofiltration, dialysis) on a frequent basis with minimal supervision
2.2.3.4 Nutritional support (i.e. Enteral and Parental feeding) on a frequent basis and with minimal supervision.
2.2.3.5 Frequent blood sampling, including analysis and interpretation i.e. Arterial blood gases, capillary blood glucose measurement, cardiac output studies, using complex equipment on the NICU with minimal supervision.
2.2.3.6 Take laboratory blood and other specimens as required and access results from the hospital system
2.2.3.7 Safe calculation, administration and titration of multiple and complex IV infusion working within prescribed parameters to achieve precise aims (i.e. inotropes, sedation, epidurals) including a working knowledge of drug effects and action in the event of an adverse response on a frequent basis and with minimal supervision.
2.2.3.8 Initiates corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology i.e. ECG and Advanced life support skills including defibrillation.
2.2.4 Monitor compliance with legislative requirements and organization polices and procedure and take appropriate action to correct any area of non-compliance
2.2.5 Attends and actively participates in meetings of committees as assigned. Assists in data collection for quality improvement
2.2.6 Attend 75% of all department meetings
2.2.7 Attends annual review and annual departmental competencies.
2.2.8 Demonstrable ongoing and active continuous education. Maintain RCMC annual competencies.
2.2.9 Integrates Trans-cultural principles into nursing care.
2.2.10 Excellent attendance record.
2.2.11 Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with Physicians and Staff.
2.2.12 Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing education, emotional support, and guidance throughout the critical care journey, addressing their concerns and answering questions.
2.2.13 Manage post-procedure hemostasis at vascular access sites, applying pressure dressings and monitoring for bleeding or hematoma formation.
2.2.14 Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all aspects of patient care, including pre-procedure assessments, intra-procedure events, and post-procedure outcomes.
2.2.15 Foster a supportive and compassionate environment for patients and families, involving them in care decisions, facilitating visitation, and providing updates on patient progress.

2.2.16 Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families during times of crisis, including end-of-life care and bereavement support.
2.2.17 Advocate for patients' and families' needs and preferences, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and understanding of the critical care environment
2.2.18 Perform regular patient rounds, assessing pain levels, neurological status, and response to treatments, documenting findings accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
2.2.19 Continuously monitor patient vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and oxygenation levels, promptly identifying changes in condition and initiating appropriate interventions.
2.2.20 Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol
2.2.21 Initiates corrective action whenever information from monitoring/life support equipment shows adverse symptomatology
2.2.22 Acts as patient advocate by supporting the basic rights, values and beliefs of the patient
2.2.23 Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing education, emotional support, and guidance throughout the NICU stay, addressing their concerns and answering questions.
2.2.24 Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting
2.2.25 Float among various clinical services, where qualified and competent
2.2.26 Knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies arrhythmia, and intervenes using NRP algorithm and physician order.
2.2.27 Treat babies and their family with respect and dignity by acting as an advocate for the child and family, providing them with information and support and directing them to the relevant support services where appropriate.
2.2.28 Maintains proper supplies and appropriate medical equipment to care for babies
2.2.29 Assist with on-going education and training of families Assess, plan, prioritise, implement and evaluate specialist-nursing interventions to meet individual babies’ needs and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate babies care plans
2.2.30 To start planning discharges from admission, liaising with the multidisciplinary team, other departments and community services as necessary.
2.2.31 Arrange for babies transfer to other departments and facilities, complete required documentation.
2.2.32 Practicing infection control methods/ protocols

2.2.33 Reading and interpreting babies charts; Detecting unusual babies behavior related to specific health conditions.
3 SN 1 (added) Duties and responsibilities
• Provide clinical leadership to ensure the provision of highest quality nursing care
• Promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence based practice
• Acting as a role model and expert clinical practitioner
• Supervise and teach trained staff and health care assistants
• To assist in the safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources
• To undertake delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of the Head Nurse / Charge Nurse
Equipment and Machinery:
The NICU staff nurse is expected to have knowledge of all equipment used in the area, however may not have daily clinical involvement 

 

Skills

Education :

• Bachelor degree of Science in Nursing.
• Post graduate certificate in Neonatal Intensive Nursing preferred.

Experience :

• SN. 1. Minimum of 5 years post graduate nursing experience

• Holds a current valid professional license to practice.
• Saudi Council Registration
• BLS required
• NRP

تأسست الهيئة الملكية للجبيل وينبع بموجب مرسوم ملكي أصدره جلالة الملك خالد بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود ـ يرحمه الله - في 16 رمضان عام 1395هـ الموافق 21 سبتمبر عام 1975م. وجاء في المرسوم الملكي: (تشكل هيئة ملكية لتنفيذ خطة التجهيزات الأساسية اللازمة لإعداد منطقتي الجبيل وينبع كمنطقتين صناعيتين ويكون لهذه الهيئة شخصية معنوية مستقلة). كما خصصت للهيئة الملكية ميزانية مستقلة لتنفيذ أعمالها. The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu was established as per a Royal Decree issued by HM King Khalid - May Allah have mercy upon him - in 21 September 1975 (16 Ramadan 1395H). The Royal Decree read “A Royal Commission shall be formed to execute the necessary infrastructure plan for the preparation of Jubail and Yanbu Cities as industrial areas. The Commission shall have an independent legal personality”. An independent budget was dedicated for the Royal Commission.
